Student Loans Company (SLC) Funding: Undergraduate and postgraduate students from the UK, and some from the EU/EEA who normally reside in England and Northern Ireland, can apply to the Student Loans Company to help fund their studies.

Undergraduate: Students enrolling for an undergraduate programme can apply for a maximum loan of £4,500 per academic year to contribute towards their tuition fees. Please note that any shortfall paid by students who do not apply for the maximum amount will be higher.

Postgraduate: Postgraduate students enrolling on a full MSc* programme may also apply for funding. Postgraduate students can apply for up to a maximum of £12,858, which is split over the duration of the programme and paid directly to the student.

(*However, please note that MSc top-up only programmes are not eligible.)

Professional Membership Discount: If you are a member of a Professional Body such as the Nautical Institute, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers or IMarEST then we want to know about it. Students who are members of a Professional Body could receive a 10% discount on tuition fees*.
*The Professional Bodies mentioned above are not an exhaustive list and discount levels may change.

BIMCO Membership Discount: We are delighted to be working in partnership with BIMCO, the largest international shipping association for shipowners, charterers, shipbrokers and agents. If you are a student whose tuition fees are being paid by your organisation and your organisation is a member of BIMCO, you may qualify for a 20% discount.

Women In Maritime: Launched in March 2021 to support International Women’s Day and to tackle gender inequalities in the sector, MLA College introduced its Women in Maritime Bursary scheme.
The bursary of £500, which comes in the form of a fee reduction, is available to all new female students enrolling on any of our maritime-related degree programmes.

I also have an interest in Maritime Law, borne out of the law module of my degree, and as a result, have recently been accepted into a graduate programme to study an LLB in Law, which has allowed me to go straight to year 2 of a 3-year degree.

Ross Cleland

This programme has given me the advantage to transition from the offshore side of the business and come onshore. It has also given me an edge to pursue my career towards a shore management position, so I would definitely say that it has given me a broader view of the maritime operations

Timothy Adeyemo

This programme allows you to self-organise; there are no strict schedules of weekly classes, the modules are all pre-recorded and uploaded to the system so you can set your own pace without being overloaded with work.
